Mission
The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) coordinates university-wide EDI and anti-racism efforts and collaborates with university leaders to create, implement, and evaluate programs designed to ensure every single community member can grow and thrive together. We partner with campus schools and non-academic units to craft a vision for EDI and anti-racism that is unique to the Tulane community, and accountable to our place in New Orleans, the Gulf Region, and the world. In doing so, we engage our Tulane community in crucial, brave conversations about the most challenging issues of our times – including the impacts of racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, classism, antisemitism, Islamoprejudice, xenoprejudice, and other intersectional societal inequities – to identify social change efforts we can make now and in the future.
About the Academic Pipeline Project
This publication & database serves as a comprehensive resource guide for the following:
1. Alumni and Community
2. Faculty, Staff and University Administrators
3. Current Students (Undergraduate and Graduate Students)
4. Parents and Families of Prospective Students
5. Post Baccalaureates and Post Doctorates
The Academic Pipeline Project was created by Drs. Curtis D. Byrd and Rihana S. Mason to provide awareness of pathway programs that support individuals from diverse ethnic, gender, and economic groups. We are focusing on individuals who come from underrepresented groups at colleges and universities.
This guide illustrates initiatives that prepare individuals for the journey into college to careers in academe and limitless professions. This resource provides an in-depth discussion regarding these pipeline programs using the newly created THRIVE Index giving context to compare each program.
The THRIVE Index highlights each program as it supports several levels of the pipeline (i.e. pre-collegiate (K-12), collegiate, graduate, post-doctoral, and/or faculty). Programs & Initiatives should complete the inventory for each one of your programs. Each Academic Pipeline Program will have the opportunity to upload a narrative about each program at the end of the inventory if there are details that are not captured by the inventory questions.
