Program Overview

  • A programmatic goal of the Altman Program is to develop intercultural competence in our students. This development is woven into the Altman curriculum and includes: comfort zone, exercises, presentations on intercultural competence and diversity, and a semester-long course dedicated to preparing them for their time studying abroad. We encourage our students to engage with the international study body through various campus initiatives such as the TUPals Program with the Office of International Students and Scholars. The Altman Program assesses students intercultural competence through the Intercultural Development Inventory, which is administered to students three times throughout their time in the program as freshmen, sophomores, and seniors, and students are debriefed on their results by Altman Program staff. Altman Program Administrative Program Coordinator Jamie Montelepre is a Qualified Administrator of the IDI.

Program Benefits

  • The Jeffrey A. Altman Program in International Studies & Business is a four-year, dual degree program. Students enter as freshmen with a small, cohesive cohort. Over the course of four years, students complete two study abroad programs, intensive language study, and specially tailored Altman core classes.
